-Symbiosis- Often we think of symbiosis as a beneficial relationship between organisms. However a symbiotic relationship can either be mutualisic, where both organisms benefit, or parasitic, where one organism benefits at the detriment of the other. Cannabis is the master of of mutual-ism, employing a wide array of organisms (bacteria, fungi, protozoa, micro-arthropods, nematodes, worms, insects, birds and mammals like us) to work for them. Cannabis gives back to those who work for them. Many growers know the example of endo-mycorrhizae like Glomus Intraradices, who protect the roots and increase the range and ability of the root network to synthesize nutrition. In return cannabis gives back, to the fungi, with root exudate food derived from from the sun. This energy is harvested via another mutualistic relationship between photosynthetic chloroplast bacteria and the plant that houses and protects it. In business we have the opportunity to be parasitic or mutualistic. Sadly we have too often chose the path of the parasite. The path of finite resource extraction at the detriment of the health of the environment and all life on earth. The mentality of dog eat dog competition, political manipulation, unbalanced subsidies, and environmental rape for profit, in actuality, is a drain on the development of true economic wealth. True wealth is health, happiness and increase in standard of living and opportunity. Wealth is not created by a few profiting at the detriment of people and the environment, only cost. As the cannabis industry moves into the free and open market, state by state and country by country, we have an opportunity to learn from cannabis and its mutualistic strategies. It is my hope we can create the example of an industry that is mindful of environmental impacts and views competition in a new paradigm. We should see like business not as competition, but as opportunities to build mutually beneficial relationships in an environment where mutual symbiosis thrives. Let us create a new business paradigm in the cannabis community. The future, as was the past, is #regenerative. #economyofthesoil BioVortex – #teamHSO biovortex@humboldtseeds.net www.humboldtseeds.net
