Sour Diesel has transcended the evolution of the modern day hybrid movement in California. It’s demand remains at an all time high across the nation still fetching top dollar in most market places. The one drawback most of the Sour Diesel varieties have are the 11-12 week flowering periods. Traditional California Sour Diesel is a Mexican Sativa crossed with a highland Afghani giving the Sour Diesel its renown flavor filled with sharp gassy tones unmistakable to the pallet. We used are elite 1976 Highland Afghani to take it a step further creating the fastest Sour Diesel of the market to date better known as Desert Diesel.
Strong and aggressive root systems are supported by hearty compact infrastructure. Large broad fan leaves have good spacing between them allowing for deeper light penetration. Vertical growth is moderate though fast enough for a quick turn around into the flowering period. Trellising is what we would advise to maximize production throughout the flowering cycle.
Flowering indoor provides the ideal 9-week cycle. Long inter-nodal sites make for large gassy colas displaying swollen bubbly calyxes covered in resin. Very little leaf material the Desert Diesel is quite easy to manicure as well.
Flowering outdoors, one can expect to harvest the first to second week of October contingent upon pot size, diet, climatic environment and your degree of latitude. Desert Diesel can reach heights of 10+ feet while yielding amount to 3+kilos per plant depending on the grower. Cages is highly recommended if you are growing for long season. This should be followed by a secondary layer of netting to secure development in later stages due to large bud production. The Desert Diesel does exceptionally well tied down. The SCROG method provides an ideal setting considering the spacing between fan leaves allowing light into secondary growth.
The flavor profile has the unmistakable gassy overtones one would expect from a traditional Sour Diesel. Sharp acrid tones can be felt in the jawline when in contact with this pungent aroma which has a tendency to dominate the room. These all transfer directly back into the taste. Effects are very cerebral and long lasting. Followed by a strong body high this Indica dominant phenotype is great for the end of the day. Looks like the recipe changed? I just purchased a 3 pack of the D.D. from herbies and the discription says that the male used was a E. M. diesel affi back cross. Did the first run have the d.a.d as the male? I was definitely looking for a more sat leaning type of high. ... Thanks for any help.
